About the Sandbox Theatre
Bob Bohon
The Westchester Sandbox Theatre was opened in November 2008 by owner Daniel Ferrante. WST is a full-time, year-round theatre facility located in Mamaroneck, New York. We produce shows for all audiences, but our proudest work is the work we do with young people. Producing ten Young People's Theatre shows each year, we give young actors a chance to shine on stage and share their love of theatre with other like-minded children. We maintain a positive, comfortable and constructive environment for children of all ages to grow as actors and as people. We do not, however, limit our work to young people. Our mainstage shows bring together brilliant and energetic talent, both local and from NYC to thrill audiences of all ages. Check out our news page for links to reviews of some of our past work. WST is and will always be grateful to the people who come out and support live theatre in the community and we look forward to entertaining and educating people of all ages for years to come.
Daniel Ferrante has been involved in theatre since age 7. He has amassed numerous performing, directing, conducting and musical directing credits at regional theatres and has devoted much of his time to working with young people. Daniel currently serves as Executive Director of the Westchester Sandbox Theatre in Mamaroneck, New York. Here he has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with and inspire young people through the arts. His philosophy regarding youth theatre has always been that youth theatre is a means of not only improving as performers, but more importantly, learning skills and habits that improve us as people and better prepare kids for the adult world.
Dan has been involved in nearly every Sandbox Theatre production, including performing as Seymour in "Little Shop of Horrors" in the Summer of 2011.
Mr. Summers has worked extensively as a director, choreographer, teacher, and performer regionally and throughout New York. He received his BFA in Drama at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated with honors and was presented with two outstanding achievement awards, one from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and the other, the Seidman Award, for his work as a performer and a scholar. As a director and choreographer, his work has been seen off-Broadway in New York (most recently as writer and director of the new musical Growing Up 70's, starring TV's "Greg Brady," Barry Williams) and in countless regional and college theaters throughout the country. His productions have been favorably reviewed in many national publications, including The New York Times. In addition, his work as a coach for the Iona Prep Forensics Team has brought the school numerous nationally-ranked finalists, including two national champions. Mr. Summers is also the co-founder and Artistic Director of the Hope for Change Foundation, a Westchester-based not-for-profit organization that raises money for breast cancer research through theatrical programming. He has been a member of Actors' Equity Association since 2002 and a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers since 2005.
